  Foods to watch

Moderation is the key to any successful diet. You can eat something as a treat, the secret is to keep it to being a once in a while treat!

One of the EatatEase team has a story about a person who only ever ate something fattening as a 'once in a while treat', the problem they tried to explain was that although they indeed didn't have that particular food for another week or two, they had something equally fattening the same day (but again they viewed this as a treat not to be repeated for a few weeks!)

Here's some food's you should keep an eye on.

  • Fried foods, keep to maximum of 1 a week.

  • Cakes 1 a week as a treat.

  • Watch out for hidden fats in biscuits, cakes, and pastries.

  • Chocolates, keep to occasional treat.

  • Cheese, choose lower fat varieties (see list).

  • Sugary products, sugary products are filled with useless calories, if fancy something sweet opt for some fruit.

  • Sugar in tea/coffee: reduce the amount or choose sweeteners.

  • Milk: choose semi-skimmed or skimmed milk.

  • Desserts: choose low fat/virtually fat free mousse, fromage frias, and yoghurts.

  • Limit crisps; choose low fat crisps as a treat.
