  How much Activity?

Where do I start?
Try to do about 5 minutes of exercise at least 5 times a day, this could be walking up the stairs a few times a bit quicker then normal, walk to the shops or a quick walk around the block during your lunch break.

Build up slowly and gradually as you feel comfortable, increase the number of minutes until you can comfortably achieve 30 minutes of exercise.

I exercise a little, but what should my target be?
Any increase is great, only set targets that you really can achieve. However experts generally agree that you should build up to 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 times a week.

How do I know if I’m exercising hard enough? What does moderate really mean?
Moderate exercise simply means that you are exercising hard enough so that your breathing becomes heavier than normal, you start to become warmer, but not so hard that you are not able to talk and continue exercising at the same time.

Where next?
Once you have built up to 30 minutes you need to start working a little bit harder. If you were walking, you could increase the speed or try walking some of the way uphill.

Gradually as you improve your fitness the exercise will become easier,

Remember through, that a regular moderate level of exercise is much better than occasional burst of vigorous exercise less frequently.
