Since completing her degree Nicola has worked in the UK as a locum dietitian within the NHS and private sector practicing as a clinical and community dietitian. Nicola's locum work has given her the opportunity to practice in a variety of specialities within dietetics and accordingly has a diverse experience of many roles.
These include: Disease of lifestyle: obesity, coronary heart disease, high cholesterol, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (which includes education in carbohydrate counting), metabolic syndrome, hypertension. Gastroenterology: IBS, Crohn's disease, Coelics disease, food intolerance, food allergies Surgical: post gastrectomy, oncology, short bowel syndrome. Other: nutrition in pregnancy and lactation, women’s health, stroke and nutritional support.
Nicola has also worked in food service management and catering in Verbier, Switzerland. Keen to follow her interest in sports nutrition Nicola completed a course in exercise science and fitness instruction in 2004. Nicola is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC), the British Dietetic Association (BDA), Freelance Dietitians Group (FDG) and Asociación Espanola de Dietistas-Nutricionistas (AEDN).
